Landis Hall

Florida State University

Landis Hall is considered to be the "anchoring jewel" on FSU’s Landis green. This project was a total interior and exterior remodeling and renovation that involved significant restoration aspects. Project duration was 23 months broken into two phases. Phase I was permit bidding of abatement and demolition ahead of the Phase II General Construction package to ena-ble GRC and the CM to complete 100% CD’s based on discoveries made during the demolition phase. The team anticipated this would result in less change orders due to unforeseen conditions. The building reopened for student return in Summer 2006. The conventional dorm room configuration was eliminated in favor of a suite-style arrangement similar to Cawthon Hall. A total of 403 beds were provided. The project involved code corrections, and new infrastructure including HVAC, plumbing, fire sprinkler system, power and lighting and finishes. The building received a complete exterior restoration and new tile roof.
