The project entailed implementation of Honda’s corporate prototype being used in only several other locations in the U.S for the sale and service of Honda’s new corporate jet. GRC was commissioned for design of a Tallahassee facility and a similar facility in Albany, NY. The project(s) included a high-bay light service and a showroom hangar with attached sales office, administrative and service facilities.

The administrative and service facilities are two-story in order to blend well with the 28’ high hangar.

The old Municipal Airport site at Tallahassee Regional Airport was slated for this facility that was adjacent to the airport’s central ramp. On-site parking was provided for street access as well as an air side entrance for the pilots. The sales center was designed as an elite experience for prospective buyers of Honda’s jet.  No welding, painting or heavy engine repair work was to be undertaken in the hangar.

The hangar is a TYPE I hangar and included a water suppression system in order to satisfy the FBC code.

The structure is conventional steel and joist and includes rated construction. The main bay hangar includes a 28’ x 100’ bottom-rolling hangar door. The hangar is not conditioned but does include radiant heaters and a large 16’ ceiling fan. High-end and elite finishes were proposed throughout as part of the prototype aesthetic.
